One Drop

Hello peoples!

So yesterday as I was driving home it was pouring down rain. To the point where I could not see very well. While I was driving "One Drop" by Plumb came on the radio. (Here is the really cute lyric video!)

So it got me thinking (always a dangerous thing) it really does only take one person to make a difference. I can make a difference in lives of orphans all the way in china because I'm "jumping in" and going. I don't know if I can adequately explain how much these lyrics speak to me.

This whole dream of going to china with my mom on a mission trip started, I think, at least two years ago. It's been on our hearts for so long, and now we are finally going! And we may be going with the smallest group ever, BUT together we can do ANYTHING. I may be nervous and scared, but I'm ready to give it all I've got! I'm ready to go share God's love with these kiddos and the nannies at the orphanage.

And on a related note, today on the way home "Difference Maker" by NeedToBreathe was playing on the radio. I really want to make a difference, so to hear these songs in the past few days has been such an encouragement.

That's my view!

Final Senior Thoughts

Hello peoples!

Again. I know I already posted once today but that was a trip post. This is a personal post. As of right now I have 7 days left of school. I'm slightly freaked out. It's not that I want to stay in high school, but that leaving means that I actually have to be "grown up" and that terrifies me! Then today I managed to scare myself even more. I only have 3 real days left of school.

That may sound weird but let me walk you through my train of thought as school ended today. I was thinking about how tomorrow and Wednesday we have block days (we only go to half of our classes but they are longer) so when you think about it combined they are really one "school day" so I only have 6 days. But then the last two days are finales and those won't feel like normal school days so now we are at 4. However even trying to combine the block days doesn't make them a real school day, so in all actuality I have 3 days.

Oh and to explain something from my previous post, when I say I'm a Frozen fanatic I'm not exaggerating. I pretty much have the whole movie memorized. Yes, the WHOLE movie.
"The sky's awake. So I'm awake. So we have to play!"
Love that line. Anyways, I also own the Frozen Deluxe album and have all the songs memorized and can identify the songs by title (even the instrumentals) after only a few measures. I even managed to find piano sheet music for "Let it Go" and am working really hard to learn to play it. It's a work in progress. I have a huge number of frozen shirts too. So I really am a crazy fan of Frozen. Oh, and Elsa is amazing.

Do You Want To Go To China?

Hello peoples!

So back in March my mom was doing some promoting for our trip and she would end all her posts with "Do you want to go to China?" Being the Frozen fanatic that I am, I immediately understood the reference and for about a week this crazy idea was rolling around in my head: could I take the song "Do You Want to Build a Snowman" and turn it into a song with the theme of "Do you want to go to China." Finally one day I opened the notes on my phone and just started typing lyrics. After getting done with the first verse, I sent them in a text to my mom and asked her opinion. She was stoked about it! I kept working on it while she was on her way home and then together we edited.  In three days time we threw this together!

People at the ACT Missions department of America World Adoptions saw our video and wanted to use it on their blog. BUT the pictures we used couldn't be used on their blog but they still really wanted to use it. Sooooooo we made Version 2.0 for them.

Just thought it might be fun to share this with you guys before the trip. (Even if I'm a few months late.)

Hello people of the inter webs!

Hello peoples!

First off, I should probably explain the title, my initials spell out mew. The nickname has been around for awhile. It has nothing to do with cats. I don't even own a cat. I have dogs. So the name means that this is my view, my point of view on the world, and stuff like that.

Now with that out of the way I want to start by introducing myself a bit. As of right now I am a senior in high school. I graduate in two weeks and am slightly freaked out by that. I play both flute and piccolo in my school's band. I have enjoyed doing theater and I love creative writing. I was the president of Future Teachers of America (FTA), so it should be no big surprise that I want to be a teacher; however, what surprises a lot of people is that I want to teach math. I have a huge family! I have an older brother who got married in January so now I also have a sister-in-law too. I have two younger brothers and two younger sisters. Fun fact: my sisters were adopted from China. And random fact: purple is my favorite color.

I think that's all the introducing I can handle at the moment. Time to get to the important stuff: why am I blogging. Well, for the time being this blog will mostly focus on the mission trip to China that I'm going on this summer through ACT Missions. Honestly this whole thing has felt pretty crazy from the start. The trip was almost canceled because we didn't have enough people. A full trip needed 12 people, we have 4. But unbelievably China is still letting us come! Oh, guess I should mention what I will be doing. So the four of us are going to an orphanage in Guangdong to help care for the kids! And while I can't wait to be there, I am starting to get a little worried about the travel aspect of it all.

Confessing time: I hate flying. Mostly because my ears are super sensitive to the air pressure changes and can be in pain for days after. And let's not forget the ordeal that is airport security. But I'm super nervous about flying internationally. I am the only person in my group who has never flown internationally. Oh and I will have turned 18 barely a month before the trip. The group consists of my mom who is the group leader, another adoptive mom, and a guy with a camera. So, yeah, I'm the baby.

After the trip I'll probably try and keep this blog running and it will probably be more normal things, if you could call my life normal. But until then I will keep you guys updated on my thoughts as I get ready for this  trip, all the stories from on the trip, and possibly some post trip reflection.
